May 27, 2014 – What better way to enjoy a summer in Austin, TX than to sit outside, on your patio, shaded by your new solar canopy? For the Roberts family, their new custom LSX solar canopy not only provides them shade and energy, but is also a visual match to their beautiful home.

Designed and installed by Lighthouse Solar Austin, the Roberts’ custom LSX solar canopy sports some unique features giving it a very striking appearance. The aluminum cladding used to cover the steel canopy structure architecturally integrates the system with the home. The LSX modules on top complete the overall modern look and provide shade for the garage and patio while generating electricity to power the home.

According to SEIA, “there is enough solar potential in Texas to power the world twice over.” Texans are taking advantage of this by steadily growing local solar to become a significant solar market in the U.S. In 2013, 75MW of solar electricity capacity was installed, earning the state a rank of 8th nationally. Visible and visually attractive solar systems, like the Roberts family’s canopy, will help encourage the adoption of solar in Texas.
