December 17, 2013 - Funded by a local benefactor, Herculaneum High School in Herculaneum, MO turned on the first of two solar canopies that are using Lumos LSX frameless modules. The overall energy efficiency project includes 3 solar systems and other improvements throughout the school with the expectation to save the Dunklin R-V School District more than $27,000 in annual energy costs.
One of the high school's most prominent feature is the stone bleachers overlooking the football and track field. The first LSX solar canopy, installed by local solar installer, Microgrid Solar, is located on the deck of the football stadium grandstand above the prominent stone bleachers. Because of this very visible location, aesthetics were very important to all parties involved in the planning. Lumos LSX modules were the perfect way to match the aesthetic needs of the location with solar.
"Lumos (LSX) modules enable us to create great looking canopies that fit in well with any existing architecture," says Steve O'Rourke, VP Consulting Services of Microgrid Solar.
